AUTOCAR
Founded in 1897 by Louis and John Clarke
(brothers) in Pittsburgh, PA, Autocar is still
in business today. Autocar manufactured
the first commercial truck in the United
States and is credited with the invention of
the first porcelain-insulated spark plug, the
first double-reduction gear drive, the first
American drive shaft-driven vehicle and the
first left-side drive vehicle.

The White Motor Company manufactured
cars and trucks from 1900 to 1980. The
company also produced bicycles, roller
skates, automatic lathes, and sewing
machines.
